The Retail Meat Department in the Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts and Tourism at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a Sessional faculty appointment to instruct the Retail Meat Apprenticeship Level 1 and Level 2 programs. The programs will be delivered in Surrey BC.

The Retail Meat Faculty is dedicated to preparing and nurturing students with the skills, creativity, teamwork, and professionalism necessary to be successful in a trade that demands excellence.

The Department is seeking candidates with the expertise and passion for:

Instructing the Retail Meat Apprenticeship Programs in in accordance to ITA standards, both Level 1 and Level 2
Engaging students in experiential learning
Teaching a culturally and age diverse group of students
Preparing apprentices for the trade certification exam


Trade Certified in Meat Cutting
Post-Secondary Teaching is beneficial
5-10 years of industry, business, related experience of which a minimum of 2-3 years was spent in a leadership role
Experience in budgetary and management procedures
Current with all CFIA regulations
Strong organizational skills

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:  January 15, 2018 to May 31, 2018
