Title of the Position: Butcher

Job Duties:

-Cut and trim meat and poultry to required portions and quality standards
-Prepare standard meat products and fulfill customer requests for specialty cuts
-Set up and maintain the meat display case in an organized and efficient manner
-Track inventory, loss, and product sell through cycle according to company and customer requirements
-Comply with all federal inspection guidelines and internal food safety standards
-Monitor equipment, refrigeration, freezer storage, and work spaces for safety and cleanliness
-Supervise and assist in the training of meat cutters

 

Skill Requirements (includes education and work experience):

-Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
-Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in Butchery
-Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in food preparation in a retail environment

 

Work setting:

-Supermarket and meat department
-Supermarket/grocery store

-Strong leadership skills

-Efficient in a fast paced environment

 

Work conditions and physical capabilities:

-Lifting: Must frequently lift heavy items, up to 50 pounds.
-Standing/Moving: Prolonged standing and moving required.
-Bending/Stooping: Regular bending and reaching are necessary.
-Cold Environment: Ability to work in cold temperatures.
-Scheduling: Requires availability for early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays.
-Vision and Hearing: Good eyesight and hearing are essential for job precision and safety.
-Repetitive Tasks: Comfort with performing repetitive actions for extended periods.

 

Terms of Employment: This is a permanent and full-time position, 40 hours of work per week, 8 hours per day

Language of Work: Workplace (Basic) English

Wage: $24.26/hour

Overtime Wage: $36.39/hour after 40 hours per week

Vacation: 4% of gross salary

Benefits: 20% in-store discount on purchases
