The recent publishing of our new text book ‘Canadian Professional Meat Cutting’ has enabled our association to move forward with our long-term goal, to support industry training in the development of a scholarship or bursary-training fund. The proposal for establishing this fund is to encourage recruitment and enrollment in  Entry Level Training (ELT) programs across Canada for our industry. The development of the new textbook was the starting point.

A portion of monies accumulated from sales of the book will be designated to kick start the fund. In addition to funds collected from book sales we are requesting support from industry sectors that benefit both directly and indirectly from ELT programs across Canada. Our goal is to raise $50,000 dollars or more as a foundation and thereafter sustain it with ongoing revenue generated by book sales.

To date we have raised $11,200 dollars from industry. This fund of $50,000 will then be portioned and allocated to Schools across Canada offering ELT programs, on an annual basis, in support of student learning in the form of awards for excellence during training.

If this is something that you and your company can and are willing to contribute to please know that we greatly appreciate any contribution.

The CPMCA is a not for profit organization registered in Alberta.
