Jacob Renfrew is the 2022 recipient of the CPMCA Award of Excellence for the top ranked student in his class
Jacob says, I’m excited to receive the CPMCA award of merit, and to see what is to come in my future with regards to my abilities and experiences as a meat cutter. I started the Thompson Rivers University retail meat cutting program in August 2021 and have enjoyed every minute of it. I found the Program to be interesting, and I was surprised about how much time and effort it took to become a meat cutter. Over my nine-month program, I learned how to work on a variety of animals, do the math that revolves around meat cutting, and met some great people. I especially enjoyed breaking down beef, making sausage and working alongside my instructors. Currently I’m working at Summit Gourmet Meats in Kamloops B.C. where I get to improve upon my growing skill set as a meat cutter.
